There are many players in football but only some are outstanding. If somebody from England is asked, he would quite likely choose Bobby Charlton. An Argentinian, on the other hand, can make the easy pick of Diego Maradona just as a Brazilian would for Pele.

Pele – called “the Black Pearl is not only the greatest football player of all time. Pele became Brazil’s minister of sports in 1995, serving until 1998. He played as striker for Brazil and is the only player who has won the World Cup three times. He also won 2 Copa Libertadores and 5 league titles. These victories saw him within teams of highly talented players such as Garrincha and Carlos Alberto. He became a symbol for these teams, and as a result he is often recognized with all of the praise. Pele was the ultimate goal scoring machine in his native Brazil, and is often ranked the best player ever to grace the sport.

Maradona is an icon in Argentina. As an athlete, he took his team to new heights and became a hero to sports fans – many of whom referred to him as “San Diego.” Maradona’s talent was without a doubt the best ever seen in football. His dribbling ability was compelling, his goal scoring was distinctive and clinical, and his passing and crossing were precise – earning him several assists in his career. From attacking midfield he scored 345 goals in 680 games. With a much more tougher career than Pele, he still won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina as well as 3 league titles, and 1 UEFA Cup with Napoli. Johan Cruyff is a former Dutch skilled footballer and manager, who most recently managed the Catalonia football team. He was an unmatched midfield player of the 1970s considered to be one of the most influential figures in football history. Cruyff had the control, talent and strength of Zidane and the dribbling and pace of George Best. He was the overall footballer, combining an elegant posture with clinical ability and calculating intelligence. At club level, Cruyff started his career at Ajax where he won 8 Eredivisie titles and 3 European Cups. In 1973 he moved to FC Barcelona for a world record transfer fee, winning La Liga in his first season and was named European Footballer of the Year. After retiring from playing in 1984, Cruyff become extremely successful as manager of Ajax and later FC Barcelona; he remains an prominent advisor to each clubs.
- Eusebio da Silva Ferreira:
Eusebio da Silva Ferreira is a Mozambique-born Portuguese footballer who played as a striker. As a striker he was quick and cunning and have the capability to perform amazing stunts. With the Portuguese national team, he scored 41 goals in 64 appearances. His club performance with Benfica is even further phenomenal, bagging 317 goals in 301 matches. He was the best player of Benfica and the Portuguese national team of the 1960s. He was noted for his great skill, quickness, and scoring ability and is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time. During his professional career, he scored 749 goals in 745 matches at club level and 41 goals for his national team, a total of 790 goals.
- Ferenc Puskas:
Ferenc Puskas is a Hungarian footballer and is considered one of the greatest players of all time. As club player, this left-footed legend scored an incredible 625 goals in 631 matches and as a member of Hungary’s national soccer team; he scored 84 goals in 85 international matches for Hungary. He won three European Cups, 10 national championships and 8 top individual scoring honors. FIFA recognized these achievements in 2004 by naming him Top Scorer of the Century. After his retirement, Puskas became a football coach, a career that brought him to each continent in the world. When he died in 2006, Hungary affirmed his funeral date as a day of national mourning to honor the best footballer he was.
- Alfredo Di Stefano – Argentina:
The first forward on the list has to be Di Stefano, an Argentine footballer and coach. With 511 goals in 702 games he was a prolific goal scorer for Real Madrid and widely regarded as the best, most complete and influential footballer of all time. He was the most complete player ever to grace the sport. With Real Madrid he won an unbelievable 5 European Cups, scoring in all of the finals. He won 13 league titles in his career (1945-1966). His international record is poor due to not featuring in a World Cup, although he did win a Copa America with Argentina.
- Bobby Charlton:
Bobby Charlton was a member of the Busby Babes, the famous Manchester lineup of the 1950s. He is considered as the best English footballer of all time and an essential member of the England team who won the World Cup in 1966, the year he also won the Ballon d’O. Aside from the 1966 World Cup championship, Charlton also won the 1968 European Cup and several domestic championships with Manchester United. Among his individual honors are the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball (1966), and the Ballon d’Or (1966). Although he was never appointed as striker, he still holds the most number of goals scored for England: 49 goals in 106 appearances. This French football player and manager are also involved in several charitable organizations.
- Michel Platini:
Michel Platini is a French football player who played as an attacking midfielder throughout his career. Reputed as one of the best free kick specialists in history, Platini is the principal architect of the successes of the French soccer squad and Juventus in the eighties. Platini is the winner of the 1985 European Cup with Juventus and the 1984 Euro Cup with France. He scored nine goals in five matches during the 1984 European Football Championship, making him the tournament’s high scorer of all time, a record that still stands in the present day. His unimaginable football technique and his skill to be a leader earned him the nickname of Le Roi (The King, in French).
- Franz Beckenbauer:
